Photo of the Day #1

Is it that hard to post a photo?…

I have hundreds of thousands of them… Really, I do. Some of them are silly fun, others are really good, and yet regardless of their quality, I post so rarely. I would like to change that.

Starting today I’ll post a new photo of mine everyday. Its doesn’t have to be the Mona Lisa… but some days it might be. I’m shy, I should share more. Its just a challenge to myself, but if I slip up feel free to remind me. When I run out of photos I can stop posting.

I’ve had this idea for a while. I expected to kick off my Photo Of The Day challenge with some glossy hot girly shot. I have a few terabytes to choose from after all. But instead I’m kicking off with a little dog.

These are photos I took today on a walk with Niney, our little rescued chihuahua. Her name is actually Miette, but no one outside of France knows how to pronounce it. I probably don’t pronounce it right myself. So everyone calls her Niney, or Nines, or Puppy Kinnelle, or Kinnelle Cakes, or Baby Chu, or Chi-wolfa or a dozen other terrible nicknames. …Being a chihuahua is worse than having braces in middle school. Fortunately, she is a very bold chihuahua and rarely listens, regardless of what name is called.

What began as a short break from the computer turned into an epic trek up the mountain. It was wet and slippery, and green and beautiful. Bringing my camera was probably a bad idea, but i did it anyway, because like nature everywhere, this unnamed anonymous hillside is composed of a thousand magnificent details.

The world was created by some mad genius–who else would bother crafting the ornate symmetry of a single fern leaf, then make a million unique reproductions, then only let them live a handful of months? So much effort for a single season. When a human spray paints a heart and a lovers name on the wall, we hope it will be cherished for eternity.
